A destination wedding is such a great way to celebrate as a group. The sun is shining, the weather is warm, and the drinks are cold… what could go wrong? In this article we will inform you of hiccups that can come your way as you are getting ready to be a beach bound bride (and groom!) Biggest blunder: Selecting a destination and/or resort before knowing if and how it will accommodate you for your wedding events.
It is a fairly common whoopsy that happens to brides and grooms as they are researching locations and you’d be surprised by how many destinations and resorts (or hotels, condos, timeshares, churches and other venues) cannot accommodate destination wedding groups. Some destinations have some pretty pesky requirements and restrictions in order to be legally married, and even some locations still have a long list of requirements for symbolic ceremonies. Once you get past the destination choices then you can run into plenty of options of your wedding events. Bear in mind that some resorts/hotels will not perform weddings, and when you are able to find one that does they may not have space for your specific date and time or cannot host a group of your size (either too small or too large). Some accommodations only have specific locations to choose from, usually being the beach or maybe a garden setting. For those couples who’d prefer a church or indoor setting or a private space like a restaurant or patio, many destinations and resorts are crossed off the list. Of course once you have figured out a destination and place for your destination wedding to take place you still need to keep in mind your guests and all the other days during your destination wedding trip. It seems like a long and tiring amount of research, but it’s our job, and we’re good at it. We travel to all of the destinations and accommodation choices so you know first-hand what a place is really like. We’re honest and will tell you exactly what to expect. Planning a wedding is both exciting and exhausting, but as Wedding Butler we are prepared to keep the latter to a minimal. To make your destination wedding go as smoothly as you hope for, our biggest tip is to ensure you have selected a destination & accommodation choice to suit your wedding and its events. That day is the number one priority and it should be the most thought of when selecting your location.
